We have a special event booked.

November 6th from 2-5pm Gerald Phillips of Lazy Dog Lighting will be presenting an exhibition of his uniquely designed architectural lighting which is perfectly complimented with Miyuki Kawai’s serene flow of Ikebana floristry.

Gerald has had a lifetime’s professional experience as an electrician and more recently developed a love of design with a strong Japanese aesthetic. With the uncomplicated technology of LED function, and
locally sourced timbers, a whole new outlook on design and beauty has been incorporated in an otherwise utilitarian piece of furniture, allowing a sophisticated play of individuality with interchangeable parts.

In 2006 Miyuki relocated to Brisbane from a tiny country town in Japan. She had previously studied this most traditional school of Japanese flower arrangement for 10 years and resumed learning Ikebana in 2020, rediscovering the joy it gave her. More recently she has begun exploring how she can share this joy by using the discipline of Ikebana to instil a calming, contemplative and creative space to share with others.

Miyuki’s Ikebana, with its focus on line and shape is the perfect companion to Gerald’s individuality in architectural lighting, sharing a minimalist, geometric design and a natural harmony between the two disciplines.

The event is being held in the workshop space so the rest of the shop will available to browse.
