In Queensland, we so rarely have the weather to blame, but for those bleaker days and chilly nights when indoors seems a good option, redecorating can be food for the soul and an exciting motive of self-expression.
As ever, we proudly boast our artistic outlook on foraging skills and applaud those artists who do likewise. Always with an environmental conscience, for filling blank spaces in your favourite room or gifting to someone special, we have beautiful salvaged timber planks decorated with fallen seed pods and spent flowers to become significant art pieces which can enhance a wall or become a practical table top. Simply add legs. Expertly honed by Sass of Red Banksia Designs, these pieces bring resin art to a new high and a significant statement to home décor.
Similarly, Gerald of Lazy Dog Lighting has redirected his professional electrical trade and combined those skills with a timeless Japanese aesthetic to build an array of indoor feature lights. Both freestanding floor and desk lights as well as ceiling pendants have the additional flexibility in inter-changeable fittings and using LED strip lights makes them an economical option for designed lighting.
Supporting advocates of world wildlife, with a particular penchant for portraying our amazing birds in a bright, modern, graphic style: we proudly introduce the talented team at Egg Picnic. Available as gift cards or various sized artist’s edition prints ready to frame and indulge your visual senses
Enjoy reminiscing of simpler days, lazing on the beach? Simultaneously decorative and functional, Retro-print Merchants are expert at reproducing advertising banners of yesterday as various merchandise; but we favour the humble tea towel and have a wonderful selection in store ready to gift, frame or even dry the dishes; but why not hang one or more on the wall in purpose made hanging frames by Corner Block Studio who carefully source timber off-cuts to make their stylish and economical frames.

We are also looking forward to encouraging younger artists by introducing a hatchling project for interested 10-15 yr olds. We’re busy making giant, paper-mache eggs that need decorating – at just $5 a pop, younger artists are asked to purchase a blank egg straight from our Nest, then decorate in any medium to their heart’s desire. Return the decorated egg and make it available for our spring gala event where we will auction the eggs and offer prize-money to the “Best Egg in Show” awarded to the newly hatched artist. Look out for our flyers at local schools and in-store. Eggs and entry forms will be available from June 15 and available until competition close on Friday September 1. After this incubation period, the event will be judged by a celebrity panel and awards presented on Saturday September 16 to our newly hatched budding artist/s ….Stay tuned…..
Until next we meet, Happy Foraging and warmest wishes from
Bettina, Nat and Eloise
