Hope you all had a beautiful Easter.

We began Easter early with Pysanka Egg painting Workshops weekly with Elizabeth Gunko.  We still have a selection of Elizabeth’s exquisite painted eggs in store.

Our next next Saturday Artist Showcase features textile artist Dagmar Baker of “Dressed by D” at 2pm on April 13.  Inspired by the traditional artisans of the Czech Republic and Japan, Dagmar uses hand stitching, dye and printed patterns to embellish pre-loved linen garments.  She takes time to design a pattern that suits the individual garment, treating each as a canvas. Please join Dagmar to discuss this inspiring approach to reducing textile waste.

The following month we are introducing one of our newer artists, surface designer Tammy de Zilva on May 11.  A preview to the following Saturday May 18, where Tammy will teach a workshop for participants to design their own fabric pattern.  There are limited spaces available, so do book in soon and secure your place.  In the meantime, you can enjoy Tammy’s work in store as we now stock her beautiful designs in a range of 100% cotton tea towels.

May is a very busy month for us this year.
On Saturday 25 we have 2 events.  In the morning, local multi-disciplinary artist and seasoned kite maker, Tony Rice will be making a Japanese Spinning Top Kite using using traditional bamboo, paper, inks and string. Do come and experience this treat.

In the afternoon Megan Grinstead will be teaching the latest in her series of Lino Cut,  Print and Colour Workshops.

We have some new ranges in store.  Local ceramicist Catherine Walker has provided us with a colony of marching Penguins in addition to her usual range of miniature figurines (known as “Little Dudes”) and her endearing mugs, with exquisite glazes and a “Little Dude” waiting to surprise you at the bottom.

We are also pleased to announce that we have
Dr Paula Peeters’ range of Nature Journal books  self-published and suitable for all ages. With a professional eye for the idiosyncrasies of our local fauna, we also have a range of her Organic Cotton Tea Towels featuring her whimsical drawings.
