An occasion to focus on the Mums in our lives; Sunday May 14 is approaching and our Artists and Designers certainly have fond thoughts of Mothers and Motherhood on their minds.

Chrysanthemums are traditionally the birth month flower for November. In the northern hemisphere, this brightest of abundant petaliferous blooms brings joy to mark the beginning of Autumn, and symbolises friendship, happiness, and well-being, longevity, fidelity, joy, and optimism.

Whereas here in Australia, Chrysanthemums are synonymous with the celebration that is Mother’s Day, it’s even in the name! One of our favourite artists, Frances Blines has rendered them in watercolour as both greeting cards and A4 prints.

For those Mums celebrating their first Mother’s Day we have the Mummy Tummies by Joanne Grieg, a ceramicist based on Mt Tamborine.  These beautiful little bud vases each have a unique glaze and make a lovely Keepsake for the new Mum.

We have Soy Candles and Aromatherapy Sprays from Melbourne company Light and Glo.  The range is made in Australia and includes candles in curated containers featuring artwork by collaborative artists adding an amazing aesthetic.

Never underestimate the gift of sharing the workshop experience, treat your Mum or join her in one of our workshops. Making giant paper flowers is an easy one to enjoy singly or with a group. Otherwise purchasing a voucher for any of our future workshops could make her day.

Just ask the very happy participants in our recent Eco Dyeing workshop with Nat Billing.

You can find more of Nat’s work in store at Forager’s Nest, or at next weekends Queensland Spinners and Weavers Open Day, where we’ll also have a small selection of gifts available at the market stalls.

Whether embracing the local maker or giving the opportunity to become one; Forager’s Nest has heaps to offer for those with a creative spirit and an environmental conscience.

See you soon,

With every warm wish from the Foragers and Nesters at 47 Enoggera Tce.
