Our Saturday Afternoon Artist Showcase returns for 2024.

On the second Saturday of each month we will have one of our local artists in store to demonstrate their artwork. We welcome you to watch, participate and be curious

First cab off the rank, is our own obsessive Forager Bettina making giant paper roses.  Bettina specialises in teaching how to make art with easily sourced and sustainable materials, proving art is available for everyone.  Her favourite materials are garden trimmings and windfall; however in this case she is working with tissue paper (no need for it to be new).

These showcases will be in store between 2 & 4 pm on Saturdays, starting on February 10. Come and make some or there will also be flowers available to purchase in case you want a REALLY Big Bouquet for your Valentine.

In March we will be featuring one of our newest Artists, Annette Macan of Happy Pots and Pieces.  Annette developed her love for glass while combing the beaches of Nauru and gathering sea glass. For over five years Annette has collected, created and worked with glass, creating unique small scale decorative items such as her mosaic flower pots and sun catchers, aiming for universal and accessible appeal so the sheer joy of making is easily shared.

And Our Workshop Schedule is already filling up fast.

Elizabeth Gunko who taught Petrykivka Painting Workshops last year is returning, and this year will also be offering traditional Easter Egg Painting classes in the lead up to Easter.  With a Diploma in Architecture and Design, Elizabeth Gunko has a deep understanding of painting in different mediums and techniques. After being forced to leave her traditional home in the Ukraine in 2022 and as a consequence of the political unrest and ensuing war, she has found a new home in Australia and has focussed her art on engaging others in Ukrainian culture.

In Ukrainian folklore the Pysanky (painted egg) is said to protect the household from evil spirits and natural disasters. Each design is personalised and gifted to family and friends to secure their good fortune.  During the workshop Elizabeth will lead you through the detailed process, explaining the symbolism of this specialised craft.  All materials are provided and the workshop is Beginner-friendly.  All you need is your willingness to create something beautiful and perhaps an apron.

To book one of Elizabeth’s workshops, or to peruse the range we offer; head to the Workshop page on our Website.  We also sell through Class Bento and Humanitix booking sites

Have you ever wanted to design your own fabric?  A new tutor we have on board is local Surface Pattern Designer Tammy de Zilva of Loopla Designs.  Tammy creates vibrant and playful designs with and eye-catching colourways which are often inspired by the vintage retro vibe of the seventies. Tammy has been featured in the book “Pattern Pulse” by local author Rachael King amongst 100’s of Australia’s top Surface Designers.

Tammy’s workshop is on May 18 and can be booked through Class Bento on the link below:

Learn how to create a repeat pattern by hand in this practical workshop.  You will receive one metre of cotton poplin fabric to print your own personalised design on and will be guided through the basics of surface design, the principles of design, pattern types and how to create a repeating pattern with pen and paper.  After the class, the design will be digitalised and printed onto the fabric by Tammy. Then, you can take home your personal fabric, ready to show off to your friends and family!

Our little foraging enterprise is slowly attracting a new foray of talented local artists, so we give you every encouragement to swing by and explore or participate. Good surprises are guaranteed.

Warm wishes from the Foraging Nesters.
