This Saturday from 2 – 4pm we are celebrating the first day of winter with a parade of Winter Wearables from four of our local textile artists: Karen Payten, Natalie Billing, Dagmar Baker and Zela Bissett.   The Fashion Parade will run between 2.30 and 3pm, and all four artists will be on hand to talk about their work.

While both Eco Dyers, Karen Payten and Natalie Billing create their textiles in very different ways; Dagmar Baker gathers and embellishes preloved linen garments with various hand stitched or printed patterns gathered on her travels. She takes time to design a pattern that suits the individual garment, treating each as a unique canvas.
Zela Bissett is an Artist, Academic, Author and Activist. The multi- talented artist works across the fields of painting, felting, ceramics and paper making. She has worked as an educator for over 25 years, and has taught from pre-school right through to tertiary. In 2010 Zela completed her Master of Environmental Education.
Zela’s current series of works reflects her love of animals and the environment. Using brightly coloured wool, silk and stitching. Zela has created art and wearable pieces celebrating Australian birds and their habitats.
