Bettina and the Artist Binny are yet to settle in a new Nest, however they have found some temporary perches, and the foraging continues.With three new venues: QSWFA Fibrecraft House, 12 Payne St, Auchenflower Ashgrove West Uniting Church Hall, 491 Waterworks Rd, Ashgrove And the delightful new Field Trip Gallery, 1 Latrobe Tce, Paddington The next upcoming Weaving the Garden session: Coiled Baskets at Qld Spinners Weavers and Fibre Artists on March 23 is fully booked, however Bettina will be teaching the technique again on June 11 at the Ashgrove West Uniting Church Hall.
On April 6 Bettina is again at Qld Spinners, this time teaching Basket Twining. Like the previous workshop, garden waste is again utilised. Bettina is a great practitioner of the Reduce, Recycle, Reuse mantra. In her classes she explains which common garden plants are perfect for weaving, how to prepare them, and how to forage ethically if you are gathering materials while on a walk around your neighbourhood. You will leave with not only a completed basket but also the skills to keep creating.
And what about using all that tissue paper that arrives in packages and gifts?
